Out of the Picture: The Record Album Cover Series
Pam Brabants

In this new body of work, visual artist Pam Brabants has appropriated record album covers from the 50’s and 60’s.
With painstaking care, she has removed the backgrounds in the images leaving behind the female figures.
Then, by methodically applying her own handwritten pencil texts, the words become building blocks as the sentences are repeated in the process of endurance drawing.

Pam sees a direct relationship between the obsessive thought patterns in these drawings and the vinyl records they hold, which like the female figures, spin seductive and romantic yarns from another era.
