Bogan appreciation: An art show

I am excited to be showing at The See Here; It's ethos of exploring and challenging jewellery-making within the parameters of 'fine and applied art' is exactly what really interests me.

I use found objects in my work and recontextualise them to prompt memories from the associations they hold, then I twist it all up to show something entirely new. The work in bogan appreciation is about showcasing in a nostalgic way, pieces that reach out to the 'bogan inside us all', harking back to growing up in the suburbs and small towns of New Zealand with the parties, fashion and music relative to this 'culture'.

Bogan Appreciation is a nibble, a taste test, the first swig on a tally of cold beer...for a larger show I will be doing this year. Expect to see lots of velvet, heavy metal music references, swathes of black and anything associated with cheap beer, parties and cars!
Bring the bogan inside you along for the ride!
