I’m intrigued by the meanings behind everyday sayings. The impetus for this work was the phrase ‘she felt like her legs had been cut out from under her.’

After hacking the legs from this chair, I could never have predicted that a few days later, in a freak accident, I would lose my footing on a bank of wet grass and break my ankle in five places.
