SATELLITE poster-work for GIVE &TAKE (Pleasure Beast), Masterworks Gallery at the Auckland Art Fair 2011
Give & Take is a satellite installation focused on animals that are killed for entertainment. It is built around the notion that a commonly accepted sport allows the taking of a life, without any moral hesitation.
Alongside the futility of taking out an animal, this installation reflects on a human's desire for recreational violence.
These brooches act as memory tokens, actively protesting against human killing behavior, for pleasure.
The work consists of 72 brooches, most depicting carved and painted animal figures.
Carved masonite, acrylic paint, aluminium, lazertran, magnifying glasses, nails, crushed bullet cases.
